Methodology

How the Data Works

FlightCrewPay is built and maintained by an active Canadian airline pilot. Every compensation figure is sourced from ratified collective agreements — not industry surveys, not estimates, not self-reported data.

When a new contract is signed, the relevant rate tables, per diem schedules, and pension structures are updated. The methodology is consistent across carriers so comparisons are apples-to-apples.

Tax calculations use current federal and Alberta provincial rates. Net pay estimates account for CPP, EI, and pension contributions where applicable.

  • Pay rates from ratified collective agreements
  • Per diem sourced from CA — domestic and international
  • Block hour assumptions based on typical line construction
  • Federal + Alberta provincial tax applied
  • CPP, EI, and pension deductions included
  • DB pension value not included in net pay (noted separately)
  • No advertiser influence — data is independent
  • Corrections welcomed via community forum
